Well we are officially in the swing of wedding season- aka CRAY CRAY time. We have 5 events in three days this week, bring it on!!! But how do we stay sane? We do lot’s of planning, prayer, have a glass of wine and then take a bath!! So we thought it seemed fitting to make a table for my bath tub, not only is this a thrifty craft but makes for a great present!!
- Wood of varying sizes ( this depends on the look and length of your tub)
- Wood Screws
Once you have all your supplies it’s time to measure your bath tub length and cut some wood!
My tub is pretty beastly so my little “table” will be a little over 3ft long. Measure all your boards to match…
All lined up, oh happy day!
Now time for your cross pieces of wood to hold it all together, measure just a little less than the span of your board width
Remember to always pre-drill with your wood this thin to avoid splitting!!
Add all three panels and be sure to drill each board to the cross panel to hold them securely in place
Whoop whoop the main structure is done! Now for the fine tuning to make it pretty!
Sand your wood smooth, nope splinters in the bath tub just doesn’t sound fun. Then pick your favorite paint or stain. I did my usual that matches the rest of my home, “Ash”
Be sure to get in all those cracks and crevices at every angle…
After drying, add a coat of shellac to seal your hard work- after all it will be near water which could make for a bad combo if you don’t seal your wood.
Look at that smooth operator!! Let’s test it out!!
Hope that this inspires some good relaxation time!!
