Homemade Jalapeño Popcorn

My hubby and I thoroughly enjoy our popcorn nights, generally they consist of a LARGE bowl of homemade popped corn that I dash with some salt, butter and nutritional yeast because I loveeee cheesy popcorn- but this post we are mixing things up!! Getting a little spicy on ya!! I am not a spice freak, but I do enjoy a little kick here and there. This recipe has the perfect amount of kick and let’s face it- you can always kick it up a notch too by adding more jalapeños!! It would be a fun night to infuse different oils and make some flavored popcorn with toppings and seasonings, my kind of night!!

For this poppin’ popcorn simply slice up one jalapeño and let simmer a bit in olive oil and then get to poppin!! Those jalapeños will get sautéed and become the perfect little surprise as you munch on your popcorn! Remove seeds if you want less heat OR add more jalapeños if you want more.

This jalapeño popcorn is the perfect spice making popcorn all the more addictive!!

  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 6 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 sliced jalapeño
  • salt
  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add jalapeño slices to the olive oil and let warm for about 1 minute. Add the popcorn kernels, cover the pot, and cook until popped, shaking the pot occasionally, 4 to 5 minutes to avoid burning. Turn off the heat and season with salt and then give one final stir. Transfer to a serving bowl.
