Coffee Encrusted Bacon Burger with Bleu Cheese

I can hardly believe that it is already August!  How is it that I am already gathering up the paperwork and shopping for supplies for back-to-school.  I knew going into the summer that it was going to be a short one, but holy cow!  In my usual attempt to draw out the last days, I will definitely be hitting the beach with the kids and creating some fun, lazy summer dinners over the bbq.  I kind of feel like the lazy grasshopper trying to hold on to the summer warmth and fun for as long as I can.

In honor of my refusal to admit that summer is almost gone, I give you a fun little burger recipe to rock for your friends and family.  This bad boy is packed with flavor thanks to some superstars like coffee, bacon and bleu cheese!!

I make the patty for this burger pretty simple.  I use chopped onions and olive oil to add moisture, and then just season with salt and pepper.

The real magic happens by coating your patties in fresh coffee grounds before throwing them on the BBQ.  The aroma is killer!!!

For the bleu cheese sauce, I kept it pretty darn simple, as well.  I used cream cheese to mellow the pungency of the bleu cheese, and then added a little milk to smooth out the texture.

Coating your burgers in coffee grounds may seem like a freak move to make, but I am telling you, “Get on this!”  There is something magical when you mix bacon, coffee and bleu cheese.  I feel like this is a perfect little creation for the last days of summer vacay.  Hope you are feeling adventurous enough to give it a try 😉




Coffee Encrusted Bacon Burger with Bleu Cheese

This may seem a tad adventurous, but the mix of bacon, coffee and bleu cheese is incredible.  Get ready to fire up your grill!

Servings: 4 people
  • 1 lb Ground sirloin
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh coffee grounds
  • 4 slices cooked bacon
  • 1/4 cup bleu cheese
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4 buns
  1. Mix the sirloin with the chopped onion and olive oil, seasoning with salt and pepper.  Making four patties, press them into fresh coffee grounds until completely encrusted.  BBQ them on a grill.

  2. For the bleu cheese sauce, mix together the cream cheese, bleu cheese and milk until smooth.

  3. Once the burgers are cooked to your liking, top each on with bacon and bleu cheese sauce.  Serve on a bun or without.
