Classic Southern Pimento Cheese

Hi friends! Jess here. Remember me? My husband and I just moved to California this year from Nashville, so when I heard some of my Zest sisters (I won’t name names) had NEVER had a Pimento Cheese sandwich before, my Southern  jaw hit the floor. Bless their hearts, am I right?! It was clearly time for me to get on the other side of the camera and make Paula Deen proud.


Ok, I didn’t say it would be good for you… that’s not how we do things down South.

Classic Southern Pimento Cheese Spread

2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese

4oz jar of pimentos (drained & diced)

1/2 cup of mayo

8oz block of cream cheese, softened to warm temperature

pinch of garlic powder

pinch of onion powder

pinch of cayenne pepper

Let’s dice up those pimentos! Personally I like a bit of a bigger chunk.

Things are about to get complicated, so try & stay with me here…


You’re literally going to dump all your ingredients into a mixing bowl,southern_pimento_cheese_0004(pretty, huh?)southern_pimento_cheese_0005and whit it. Whip it good.

But seriously, just blend it on medium until the ingredients are thoroughly combined. Sprinkle  salt and pepper for a little extra flavor.southern_pimento_cheese_0006Spread it on a hot croissant or some Ritz crackers for a perfectly Southern little luncheon on a summer day.
