This soon to be Momma is sleeeeepy my friends!! With having to get up to go to the bathroom so often and get comfy with my growing belly I find it harder to get a restful night’s sleep (ehhhmm- I know, I know- this is nothing in comparison in what’s to come, right? All in training?) 🙂 But with that said, a gal can try, right? I have been trying to be more conscious about my bedtime routine, not doing as many emails before bed, drinking some chamomile tea, and now using my nifty pillow spray!! I crafted up this concotion after seeing some overpriced sleepy mist at the natural health store. My “I can do it” mentality couldn’t help but reside when I saw the simple ingredients. This aromatherapy technique will not only smell amazing but assist in creating a routine smell and ambiance when it comes to bed time. This is safe and great for kiddos too!
First add your distilled water and then witch hazel. If you don’t have witch hazel you can use vodka or rubbing alcohol as well. I know vodka sounds crazy, but basically you want a carrier agent that is alcohol based so that you are not ruining your fabric, plus the vodka will evaporate quickly to avoid staining or damaging fabric- not to worry!
Cedarwood essential oil is known to help with soothing and calming the mind (umm hello sign me up!!) as well as relieving tensions and anxiety. Add 15 drops to your container.
Lavender essential oil, probably one of the most common calming oils, relaxes the mind and body giving a calming nature and smelling amazing! Add 15 drops to the spray bottle as well and give the bottle a shake.
I only added these two essential oils but there are tons of other great essential oils you could use to create “calming” blends. Here is a great list to refer to if you want to get all mad scientist on me 🙂
Be sure to store in a darker place for longer shelf life and get some sleep zesters!!
